The Difference Of EVA Foam Cotton, EPE Pearl Cotton And Sponge

- Oct 10, 2019-

EPE (Expandable Polyethylene), Polyethylene, also known as pearl cotton. Non-crosslinked closed-cell structure, it is a high foam polyethylene product produced by extrusion with low-density polyethylene (LDPE) as the main raw material. It is composed of numerous independent bubbles produced by the physical foaming of low-density polyethylene lipids. It overcomes the shortcomings of fragile, deformation and recovery of ordinary styrofoam. It has many advantages such as water-proof and moisture-proof, shockproof, sound-proof, heat preservation, good plasticity, strong toughness, recycling, environmental protection, strong impact resistance, as well as good chemical resistance.

Sponge is mostly by polyisocyanate and polyols as raw materials to synthesis, the basic reaction is polyols and polyisocyanate production of polyurethane reaction, commonly used sponge science called polyurethane soft foam rubber, polyurethane is the life of the most common polymer material, widely used in the production of a variety of "sponge" products. As well as shock absorbers, anti - friction use of elastic materials.

EVA was synthesized by copolymerization of ethylene (E) and ethylene acetate (VA). EVA is characterized by good softness, rubbery elasticity, good flexibility at -50℃, good transparency and surface gloss, good chemical stability, anti-aging and ozone resistance, and no toxicity. It has good mixing property with filler and good coloring and molding property. EVA can be used for injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, calendering, rolling plastic vacuum heat molding, foaming, coating, heat sealing, welding and other molding processing, can be used as a building material as waterproof, arson, sound insulation and other functions.

The differences between the three are mainly as follows:

1, with the naked eye can be different, sponge general slightly yellow, very elastic, relatively speaking than these three light. EVA is a little hard, usually black, which is the heaviest among the three. EPE pearl cotton is generally white, which is very easy to distinguish from sponge. No matter how you press sponge, it will return to its original state.

2. EPE pearl cotton is wavy and looks like a lot of foam sticking together. It is very light.
